Recipe for: The Perfect Lemon-Drop Martini

My Christmas Present To The Cocktail Crowd

Use the nicest raw honey you can get your hands on… the more delicately flavored, the better!

  • 1 organic lemon
  • 1-1/2 cups citron vodka
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 2 cups ice

Juice the lemon whole, peel and all (which is why it’s important that is be organic). One lemon will yield about 1/4 cup fresh juice, and it will be opaque and creamy, because the whole-fruit juicing captures all the oils and phytonutrients in the pith and peel!

Add the juice, vodka, raw honey, and ice to the blender, and blend til smooth. Pour out into glasses, garnish with lemon if you’d like, and ENJOY!

Makes two generously poured cocktails.

This is the best Margarita recipe ever because it is so dang FRESH tasting! It’s the Live Green magic, I tell ya! Make it and you’ll see the difference… no chemicals, additives, bottled juices or mixes here!

My “Live Green” Lemon Drop Martini is still simply the best lemon drop martini I’ve had, I thought I’d put together a “live green” version of another favorite, and I’m so glad I did! Raw food purists may cringe at the idea of these “raw cocktail” recipes, but I say… the more living goodness the world puts into its body, no matter how, all the better!!!

All I gotta say is, the next time you want the best margarita ever… make this one. And enjoy!

The challenge today: to create a V-8-esque Live Green Smoothie from simple, non-exotic ingredients available at any grocery story, and possibly already in someone’s fridge and cupboard.

Another day, I’ll put up a recipe using fresh horseradish root and a bit of Nama Shoyu unpasteurized soy sauce, and maybe some fresh chili. But for now, we’ve got a great base for a Savory Smoothie/Blended Salad anyone can make using fresh tomatoes, celery, red cabbage, and celery as a base.

This smoothie is a wee bit spicy… but not too much. It’s also a bit creamy, with a mellow, mild taste and a nice zingifyingly zesty finish. 

The fresh garlic in the smoothie is an immune system revitalizer, and hey… we all want a bit more of that these days. Perfect for if you’re feeling a little “wan” of late! And you can always take the zest factor up a few notches with the addition of cayenne, fresh chili, horseradish, and a splash of Nama Shoyu, if you have any of that around!

And of course, you could use this as a base for a nice “Bloody Mary” raw cocktail! :D

I am in love with this cocktail! It’s intended especially for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other Holiday Celebrations, and is a no-alcohol cocktail that tastes very grownup and slightly exotic! It is just the loveliest, festive shade of fuschia and, for those who enjoy cranberries and rose, will ramp up the holiday spirit wherever you make it. I personally guarantee it. 

You make this “Virgin Martini” with a juicer only… no blender. And it’s ready in just a couple minutes. Just make sure you have loads of ingredients on hand for extra batches because one will simply not do!

Have the best holiday celebration ever! And with this cocktail on the table, I know you’ll be driving safely. :D

This is a gorgeously festive holiday cocktail… with no alcohol in it, so the entire family can enjoy it!

If your Thanksgiving dinner tends to be laden with heavy foods, this beverage is guaranteed to keep you awake and help with digestion. It is *intense* and just sparkling with flavor! These Mango Margaritas look like gorgeously golden pureed sunshine! Oh, yeah, and… totally yummy.

This is one to memorize for your entertaining repertoire! It’s all raw, except for the tequila. And for this one, I used the tequila recommended by a tequila connoisseur I used to work with: Hornitos Anejo. Dang… was he right! :D

There’s orange peel here instead of triple sec (which is flavored with dried orange peel), fresh mangoes, a bit of lime… and tastes very authentic. It’s thick, not watery. And it’s quite strong… but goes down easy!

After you have this one, you may feel let down the next time you order one up at your favorite bar!

Recipe for: Mango Margarita (Totally Raw Cocktail Yumminess)

  • 3 ripe mangoes, peeled and seeded
  • 1-2 heaping teaspoons fresh organic orange peel (I like 2 teaspoons, but you may not like quite so orangey & bitter)
  • juice from 1 lime
  • 1-1/2 cups good dark tequila (Hornitos Anejo or Jose Cuervo “Black Medallion”)
  • 2 cups ice

Blend everything up until smooth. Pours out 5 glasses, conversatively. [/private]

Oh. Dear. Me. So good. So simple. So utterly GORGEOUS. And it whips up so quickly you could probably fit it in during a television commercial break (if you watch TV, that is…). :D

If people knew they could be drinking this amazing stuff, would they flock to Starbucks for fancy milky-sweet coffee drinks? I suspect not. Raw slushies are just too amazing for words… and you feel amazing after drinking them, because they’re made with pure, freshly juiced juice!

What a great “virgin” raw cocktail before going out dancing on a Saturday night (my current state of mind). Buy the ingredients in this one and MAKE IT. Dang… <<slipping back into 7th-Heaven Bliss…>>

Normally I put my Raw Cocktail recipes out on Friday nights, but this evening has the feel of a weekend night in my home so I’ve officially moved Friday to Thursday. No three-day weekend for me, but Festive Thursdays are a fun treat!

This raw cocktail is made using fresh grapes and freshly squeezed lime juice. No artificially flavored, bottled mixers here. No sweeteners whatsoever. And you can make the martini either with or without the booze, so “virgins” can enjoy this drink just as well!

Of course… I’ve made this recipe with my beloved Black Medallion dark tequila, by Jose Cuervo. I’m a serious lover of that agave plant. (Wonder if I can grow one at home…?) You could use vodka if you’d like… pick your favorite flavored vodka, perhaps. But I’m a lover of dark tequila in many forms. If you’ve never tried it… I’ve converted more than my share of people who’ve sworn off tequila for life. :D

So… whip up some cheer, pour it out in your favorite over-sized martini glass, and… Olé!

If you love the astringent fruitiness of pomegranate and the taste of fruit with chocolate, you will enjoy this antioxidant-rich chocolate smoothie and (optional) Raw Superfood Cocktail! Combined with hemp seeds to make it creamy, there’s enough superfood fuel in this drink to see you through much of the day (or night).

This recipe uses the whole pomegranate, all you have to do is cut the peel off with a knife, so it’s quick and easy to make. Although, if you don’t have a high-speed blender, it’s going to end up a bit chunkier than the velvety smoothness my Blendtec manages.

And if you want to toast the weekend with a Superfood Cocktail, finish it off with a bit of Vanilla Vodka or Dark Tequila and extra ice, and toast away!  :D
