Creamy-Raw-Carrot-Mango-Ginger-Sorbet-1

Creamy-Raw-Carrot-Mango-Ginger-Sorbet-2

This is a serious beta carotene blast with explosive ginger flavor! And it retains a smooth, creamy texture in the freezer, unlike many raw sorbets which get kinda “sharp” and hard pretty quickly.

I made a Ginger Float outa my portion… I scooped some of the Carrot-Mango-Ginger sorbet into a bowl and poured some of my favorite extra-gingery Jamaican Ginger Beer over top! Yum-mers…

This isn’t a combination you’re likely to find in your grocery store, and it just takes a few minutes to whip up out of utterly pedestrian ingredients you might even have on hand right now!

And it’s so pretty. Great for company. Shoot, I think this would be lovely even with a dollop of whipped organic, grass-fed cream served to guests after a lovely summer meal. Think outa the box. Just do whatever you can to use these recipes for real in your everyday life!

creamy-raw-strawberry-mango-sorbet-2

Raw sorbets commonly get “sharp” and crystalline when frozen. This one however remains smooth and creamy, without the use of any nut milks or oils.

It’s also naturally sweet enough that you don’t have to add a sweetener, if you prefer to minimize the sweets (in fact, it has a faintly “grapefruit” freshness without grapefruits bitterness if you don’t any sweetener). However, you can certainly add some cane sugar, honey, or another raw or natural sweetener if you’d like to highlight further the fruit’s natural sweetness.

I added a nice size chunk of fresh ginger root as well, for just a wee bit of zing, but that’s entirely optional.

With the weather warming up, why not start getting in the habit of keeping a couple different fresh, raw, living ice creams and sorbets in your freezer so you have something quick and easy to grab… instead of something that won’t enhance your vitality and well-being.

raw-vegan- mango-blueberry-vanilla-sorbet-1

raw-vegan- mango-blueberry-vanilla-sorbet-2

What a lovely texture… and you can whip this up in minutes! Easy ingredients, all fresh, all wholesome… and there’s no way you’ll find this combination in any store!

Fresh mango paired with fresh blueberries, quality vanilla (in this case, some richly fragrant vanilla from Mexico) and natural sweetener whips up lickety-split in your blender (easier if you have a high-speed Blendtec like mine, of course). And then you can eat it straight-away more as a *slushie*, or you can freeze it rather briefly, maybe an hour, and scoop it out as classic sorbet.

Often, raw sorbets get “icy” and hard crystals, but this one remains smooth and velvety in texture (thanks to the pectin in both the mango and the blueberry). It’s just wonderful.

Make it tonight, and have the leftover remainers with breakfast in the morning, or as an after-work refresher tomorrow afternoon!

live-green-smoothie-chocolate-mint-shake-1

Got a mint plant out back that tends to rage out of control and want to know what to do with it? Start making Live Green Smoothies with it! Paired with some raw cacao powder, avocado, banana and a few other ingredients, you’ll have a deliciously creamy LGS, or even frozen “milk” shake if you add a bit of extra ice.

Sweet, creamy, mildy minty… which you can enhance with a bit of peppermint extract or a few drops of peppermint oil. A very nice summer treat!

warm-live-raw-vegan-mashed-potatoes-1

warm-live-raw-vegan-mashed-potatoes-2

… and not that ground-up cauliflower “mashed potatoes” raw foodists try to pass off as the real thing.

One thing I’ve said is that, if you want real mashed potatoes, just have the real cooked thing as it will never be possible in the raw world. Well, today I’m eating my words.

If you’re a raw vegan purist, you can use coconut oil to enrich this recipe, but if you’re not entirely raw and not entirely vegan (hello, I’m in that category thank-you-very-much), you can use some organic grass-fed butter for spectacularly authentic results! I was quite blown away and enjoyed every last morsel of this entire recipe… and felt wonderful afterwards, tremendously enlivened and deeply nourished, rather than the “lemme just go lie on the couch and nap for awhile” that cooked mash can often inspire.

This recipe is made with sweet potatoes, but as soon as I can locate some organic yukon golds in my area I’ll be trying it out with those.

These potatoes are warm and truly comforting, and blended with avocado and baby zucchini to get the right texture. With lots of quality Himalayan Crystal salt and fresh black pepper, this is a side dish to remember for your next Thanksgiving Day menu or raw food pot luck!

raw-warm-live-hot-cereal-recipe-1

raw-warm-live-hot-chocolate-cereal-2

What a great breakfast to power you up!

You won’t believe this is made from fresh fruit and vedge… it tastes like dark brownie batter in a bowl, or a rich dark pudding! Kids will love it… chocolate-lovers will love it… and Raw Vegans will slurp it up because it’s warm, creamy, yummy comfort food that  Totally Hits The Chocolate Spot.

This recipe is rich in magnesium and antioxidants, full of living enzymes (great for digestion and rejuvenation), and with the easy-to-digest fat that makes fresh avocado stand apart from all other fats.

And did you know that avocado is actually good for your heart, for your nervous system, and raises the levels of the “good” cholesterol?

Bonafide chocolate health food…

Raw vegans, eat your heart out. This is a recipe any chocolate-lovin’ meat-eater will enjoy. You can make this for friends and family and don’t say a word… they’ll never know it’s good for them. And it’s a lot faster than making pudding out of a box!

Serve this pudding warm… that’s the point of this recipe. Because warm, live, raw, rich, creamy, delicious, comfort food is such a rare thing. And this is truly it. And, of course… it’s chocolate to boot. Anyone can whip this up the next time they have a hankering for something sweet & chocolatey. It’s bound to satisfy.

warm-live-raw-vanilla-hot-cereal-1

warm-live-raw-vanilla-hot-cereal-2

This is another “revelation recipe”, the sort of thing one never imagines would be so good, and yet works so very well!

This is also one more feather in my cap as far as nailing down another great raw recipe exquisitely highlighting vanilla… a personal quest of mine, since I love vanilla so much, but milk and cooked grain (two ingredients normally providing the blank backdrop that vanilla requires to shine) are excluded from the raw realm.

Avocado and raw zucchini have so far provided the most impressive raw food backdrops for vanilla, and this is a great example of the two of them working together to provide both creaminess and substance in a dish with vanilla.

This “hot cereal” takes just a few minutes to make, doesn’t dirty up your blender (you whip it up quickly by hand), and is true comfort food, raw or otherwise. I finished my bowl and immediately wanted another… it went down much too quickly! When’s the last time you said that about a bowl of zucchini?

:D

This dish is so gentle, comforting, and bland-in-a-good-way it will likely have some universal appeal in your home. When I think that kids could be waking up to this in the mornings instead of sugary cold cereals or packaged oatmeal, it really inspires me to get the word out. Try this and pass the recipe on to your family!

fresh-live-green-smoothie-for-beginners-1

fresh-live-green-smoothie-for-beginners-2

This smoothie is great for anyone, but especially for someone new to the Live Green Smoothie world… it is soo fresh-tasting, with hardly any flavor whatsoever except for a slight after-taste of fresh orange juice.

Slightly creamy and very smooth, especially when blended in a high-powered blender, anyone just starting out and dipping their toes tentatively into the Live Green Smoothie pond is sure to give both thumbs up with this one.

The ingredients are simple… you can find them in any grocery store… so you can keep this recipe on hand as a staple, which you can modify with the addition of different fruits depending on what you have on hand.

creamy-strawberry-rose-live-green-smoothie

creamy-strawberry-rose-live-green-smoothie-2

Here’s a great basic recipe you can use to help add more fresh greens to your kids’ diet. The avocado in this green smoothie makes it creamy, fresh parsley or baby spinach make it (unwittingly) a salad-in-a-glass, and the strawberries, raw honey, and rose water make it fragrantly sweet in a way kids (well, mine anyway) enjoy.
