Now here’s a hot-weather beverage that could really take off. It has the light, truly refreshing quality of iced tea, with the fresh basil having an almost minty accent. Fresh, raw zucchini provides a light, tasteless backdrop for the basil and red grapes for sweetness.
(If you have organic zucchini, make with the skins on and jack up the “green” aspect of your Live Green Smoothie).
I gave a glass of this to my non-raw father to enjoy whilst watching the latest World Cup game. A great refresher after having worked outdoors all morning in the Florida sun.

Refreshing, easy, quick, alkalizing, great for your skin… what are you waiting for?

This recipe is a snap. Make one blenderful with 1/2 of a cantaloupe, a second with the other 1/2, maybe adding some fresh berries for variation, and you’ll have your first two blenderfuls done for the day! They go down *sooooooo* easily, too.
Keep these in mind for when you see a sale on cantaloupe… especially the over-ripe ones. Perrrrfect!

Got a mint plant out back that tends to rage out of control and want to know what to do with it? Start making Live Green Smoothies with it! Paired with some raw cacao powder, avocado, banana and a few other ingredients, you’ll have a deliciously creamy LGS, or even frozen “milk” shake if you add a bit of extra ice.
Sweet, creamy, mildy minty… which you can enhance with a bit of peppermint extract or a few drops of peppermint oil. A very nice summer treat!

Beets aren’t just for slicing and borscht. The work wonderfully in many raw smoothies, and pair brilliantly with both berries and fresh greens to make some winning Live Green Smoothie combinations!
Rich in minerals, antioxidants, and the valuable phytonutrients that deep pigmentation gives clue to, this is a beautiful smoothie to give you energy and make you feel deeply nourished.
I’ve left the greens out of these photos, becase we all know what happens when we mix reds and greens (brown!), but don’t leave the greens out when you make this! This is the kind of energy drink you simply can’t buy at any store… it’s like drinking a rich transfusion that instantly revitalizes your blood.
Vampires never had it so good.

Carrots are not just for salads and juicing! Especially if you have a high-powered blender, in which case blending them makes them completely smooth, like a whole-food juice.
Carrots, obviously jam-packed with beta carotene, blend brilliantly with fresh berries! And especially strawberries. The result: a deliciously flavored, highly refreshing, wildly nutritious raw smoothie that is quite low in sugar… great for dieters, diabetics, and anyone else watching their glycemic levels.
I left the fresh greens out on this recipe only until I’d taken the photos because I wanted to show how pretty the underlying ingredients are together. But then I dumped everything back into the blender with some baby spinach for my version.
Drank the whole thing up and felt amazing the rest of the night.

What a beautiful drink. Just looking at this smoothie in your glass, you know it has to be good for you… especially your blood.
Whip this one up on Valentine’s Day… or give to your kids and tell them to pretend they’re vampires.
Made from fresh beets and mangoes, with a bit of fresh OJ, you can also add some fresh baby spinach without modifying the flavor. I left it out for the purpose of photographing, but measurements are included in the recipe, and turning the fuschia into a darker brown by adding the greens is worth doing… this Live Green Smoothie is health-in-a-glass. And delicious!

This smoothie is knockout gorgeous! I poured it into a tall clear container to keep in the fridge (it didn’t last long…) and drank the rest of it in a tall glass, and just couldn’t believe how radiantly orange it was every time I looked at it. I almost hated to drink it!
Almost…
Chock-full of beta carotene, antioxidants, and Vitamin C, and refreshingly sweet, this is a great Live Green Smoothie for a hot day! I left the greens out for the photo, to show how beautiful the ingredients are, but add the greens when you can! The color for this one will turn into a light shade of pea-soup, but even that color can start to look appealing when you fall in love with how Live Green Smoothie make you feel!

This smoothie is great for anyone, but especially for someone new to the Live Green Smoothie world… it is soo fresh-tasting, with hardly any flavor whatsoever except for a slight after-taste of fresh orange juice.
Slightly creamy and very smooth, especially when blended in a high-powered blender, anyone just starting out and dipping their toes tentatively into the Live Green Smoothie pond is sure to give both thumbs up with this one.
The ingredients are simple… you can find them in any grocery store… so you can keep this recipe on hand as a staple, which you can modify with the addition of different fruits depending on what you have on hand.

Here’s a great basic recipe you can use to help add more fresh greens to your kids’ diet. The avocado in this green smoothie makes it creamy, fresh parsley or baby spinach make it (unwittingly) a salad-in-a-glass, and the strawberries, raw honey, and rose water make it fragrantly sweet in a way kids (well, mine anyway) enjoy.

My new favorite… creamy but light, gingery and fresh… just wonderful. And what a gorgeous shade of spring green! Definitely appropriate for the season, with the trees still springing into that lovely “green haze” before all the leaves pop full out.
Utterly pedestrian ingredients picked up fresh at your local grocer’s yield such a surprisingly pleasant green smoothie. It’s another one of those recipes that makes me wonder, why didn’t I know about Live Green Smoothies earlier?
Enjoy!
