“Sonya Meals: 90-Day Switch to Raw Foods”

Of the many types of “raw blogs” out there, one that I think I most enjoy are the “what I ate today” sort which give a little window into how an individual is adopting and adapting to a raw foods lifestyle. It’s not only an adventure to wake up each day and create your meals primarily from fresh fruits, vegetables, greens, nuts, seeds, and their various amalgamations, but also every person who does this is in some way forging a new culture for herself. It’s a powerful thing.

One such blog that I really enjoy is written by “Sonya” from Vancouver, British Columbia. Her blog “Sonya Meals: 90-Day Switch to Raw Foods” has the tagline “It’s not a habit, it’s cool; I feel alive.” which perfectly aligns with my own view on the matter: no worries, no stress, just keep “going towards the raw” and enjoying the increased vitality.

There is an added dimension that most people seem to experience as they “go raw” — they become more aware, more intuitive and tuned in to others. Sonya’s thought sharings reveal this aspect of the journey very eloquently. From her post today, “Sunny Thursday“:

“During the pre-breakfast walk while listening to my mp3 player again with my eyes half-closed, walking north, a long-haired, kind, Celtic-looking guy asked me a question about the tide. The guy has been in Vancouver from the Okanagan since Tuesday. His visit is perfectly timed to enjoy all of the sunny days we’ve been having. I think he’s the sort of person that the sun would follow no matter where he goes… he emanated a friendly warmth. He’s originally from Windsor, Ontario, so that explains it. =) I enjoyed seeing how excited he was to be there at the oceanside for the first time in his life. He was surprised that the ocean tasted as salty as it does. Hmmmm, maybe the fact that he drank the salt water had something to do with his lack of pretense and genuinely friendly demeanour.. now I must rethink all of this….”

Here’s one of her recipes for Broccoli “Cheddar” Canneloni and Mock Tuna Salad.

Check her out. She’s a sweet read.

One of the things I’ll be doing with this Live Green Smoothie Diet site is not just to share my own take on the raw foods/green smoothie movement, but also to highlight the best and the most current that’s going on in the raw foods world.

There are some absolutely wonderful leaders, teachers, and coaches out there already, and I want to be sure that whoever may be in my own audience is completely tuned-in to who these great people are.

Am starting off with a brief highlight of Karen Knowler – aka “The Raw Food Coach” — a British sweetheart with an excellent website offering recipes, books, training products, and coaching, and with about 20 recipe-making YouTube videos to-date.

She was formerly the MD of The Fresh Network (the UK’s raw and living foods organization) and has very well-organized PR.

I love her gentle demeanor and heart-felt approach to sharing her knowledge.

Here’s one of her videos where she prepares a spinach-mango green smoothie. She likes to make her smoothies with little water — personally, I add much more. But one can do these things however one wishes… just get the live foods into you system however you like!
