Wednesday’s Live Green Smoothie 85% Challenge Results
Posted by: Angela Leeds In: *LGS Daily Recipe
I love the clean lines of this woman’s physique and the purity of her skin. They epitomize to me the natural beauty (no matter one’s age) of eating a high-raw diet… the reason why it’s worth the challenge of adjusting one’s personal “food culture” to adapt to a way of eating that is radically steeped in living nutrients.
What I Ate
Today was very high-raw, easily 95%. I’ve also been “uncomfortably raw” in that I’ve been without my favorite staples while my natural comfort point when I do have them is around 85%, tho I have gone for decent stretches living in the 95% zone. But without my rawish crutches or my favorite superfoods, wow… it’s a different experience!
The raw foods I ate today:
- 3 bananas for breakfast
- About 2 blenderfuls of Live Green Smoothies of a canteloupe/spinach/watermelon/strawberry blend (I didn’t start eating til quite late in the day, and didn’t even make my smoothies until around 5:00)
- Nearly all of the Savory Iceberg Chopped Salad I made for dinner — that’s about 3/4 of a head of iceberg lettuce, a couple small tomatoes, an avocado, and olive oil.
- About half of the Avocado Sliced with Salted Honey-Rose Glaze I made this evening. Wow, delish. Son ate the 1st half and I had the leftovers.
The non-raw food I ate:
- A long espresso with honey… which I again nursed til noon and then tossed.
- A wee bit of smoked gouda with a few organic tortilla chips around 2:30… as had not yet eaten anything but bananas, had nothing else made, and was on my way to a meeting.
- A few small chocky chip cookies after dinner, before going to the gym. (Psh… the irony…)
Cost
I’ll report on that tomorrow. I did make a nice grocery run, and it will last me a few days. As I track costs, I’ll tally my preceding amounts so that a picture evolves of how much is being spent over how much time per how much raw. Even if it’s not perfect… it’s a point of reference.
Exercise
Half an hour of good fat-burning aerobic exercise on the recumbent bicycle, using 6-3 rhythmic switch-side Breathplay breathing. Very meditative, focusing always on the out-breath. While doing the out-breath, focusing pushing outward and inward, as if narrowing waist, pelvis, and tailbone.
Breathplay breathing techniques are alwasy interesting and, actually, fun to do. They make the time pass quickly, they significantly jack up the power behind one’s cardiovascular efforts, and can be played with so many different ways! And they really make a good sweatfest out of a short time investment.
I love Breathplay.
Special Comments
I put on some form-fitting clothes today and noticed a trimmer line… a narrower waist and narrowing hips. Results coming into view. I’ll take it.
I also really needed to take a 20-minute shut-eye after dinner… reminded me that going high-raw gives lots of energy, but it also quite frequently includes times when your body just wants you to shut down and turn off, as if it’s busy using up all the fresh energy to clean, repair, and rebuild.
“Take a load off… we got work to do!” is the voice I often hear from the inner workings of my body.
And so I did.
