Creamy Anti-Cancer, Anti-Inflammatory, Tummy-Soothing Green Smoothie
Posted by: Angela Leeds In: *LGS Daily Recipe|*Live Green Smoothie RECIPES

The combined nutritional arsenal of broccoli, pineapple, and fresh turmeric root in this smoothie makes drinking this naturally creamy smoothie like resurrecting a health-protecting fortress.
Broccoli is well-known for its cancer-protecting (and some even say cancer-curing) ability. Turmeric root is highly regarded by both alternative health and the scientific community for its apparent anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and digestion-soothing potency. And the bromelain in pineapple is well-established as one way to help improve digestion and soothe stomach ailments.
The high amount of protein in the broccoli appears to be what provides the natural frothy-creaminess when used in smoothies, and the pineapple gives both a delicious sweetness and a nice “zing” to this refreshing drink. And you can add some raw honey if you want more sweetness and to jack up the anti-inflammatory quotient even higher!

I’ve included two ratios of pineapple to broccoli in the recipe, so that you can make a greener, less sweet version if your diet requires less sugar.

Recipe for: Creamy Anti-Cancer, Anti-Inflammatory, Tummy-Soothing Green Smoothie
Make sure you select a very ripe, juicy pineapple when shopping for this recipe — get one where the inner leaves very easily pull out of the stem when given a gentle tug.
And organic broccoli makes a big difference, in my experience… it is milder, sweeter, and more delicate.

Sweet & Zingy Version
- 3/4 of a whole fresh pineapple
- 1-1/2 cups fresh broccoli (don’t include the lower part of the stems)
- 1″-2″ piece of fresh turmeric root, peeled
- water to fill to 32 oz.
- 1-2 cups ice (based on what your blender can handle)
Blend all ingredients til smooth. Garnish with chopped pineapple inside the smoothie, if you like, and a wedge on the side of the glass.

Great With Coconut, Too!
You can add even more health-promoting power by including some cold-pressed coconut oil, or the contents of a whole young coconut (both the flesh and coconut water). Tastes great with coconut, makes it even creamier, and adds to the tropical vibe![/private]
